About Us
There
are two reasons why I started this business. First, I began to lose
count of the number of times clients had told me, "If I only knew about
this sooner, I wouldn't have had to move in with my daughter/son."
These statements disturbed me - why
didn't people know about their options for remaining independent? I
decided there was no good reason, other than that no one was telling
them.
The second reason is more personal. Several years ago, doctors told my
family that my grandmother had about six months to live. Concerned
about her ability to live on her own, we suggested that she move in
with us. She was hesitant to give up her independence but agreed.
Despite the poor prognosis, she lived with us for 5 years. I believe
that those final years of her life would have been much more
enjoyable if she had been living in her own home, surrounded by her
things and in a familiar environment.
With this business, I want to help others stay in their homes even as
their situations and abilities change. I want our elders to have a
clear picture of their options so no one has to say "If only..."
